The Overview is the default view when you open the Origin console. It shows fleet-wide AI activity across every reporting endpoint for the selected date range. Every element on this screen — the agent list, the metrics, the activity chart, the logs — is scoped to the context you’ve selected in the left panel.
Layout
The console has three vertical regions:
- Left panel — date range picker, scope navigation (Overview / X-Ray / Inventory / Canvases), and the Agents list
- Center panel — the main content area, showing metrics and charts for the current view
- Right panel — the Ask Origin AI chat interface with pre-built prompt suggestions
Step 1: Select a date range
At the top of the left panel, open the date range picker. The default is the last 30 days. You can choose preset windows (1D, 5D, 1M, 1Q, 1Y) from the activity surface controls in the center panel, or enter a custom range.
The selected range applies to every metric on screen.
Step 2: Review fleet-wide metrics
The Overview header shows three key numbers for your current scope and date range:
These aggregate across all agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) unless you have narrowed scope to a specific agent.
Step 3: Inspect the Activity Surface
The Activity Surface in the center panel shows AI activity over time. Use the tab bar to switch between:
- Active endpoints — count of endpoints with activity in each time bucket
- Active sessions — count of distinct sessions in each time bucket
Hover over any point on the chart to see the exact breakdown by agent. Click the expand icon (⤢) to fullscreen the chart.
Step 4: Drill down by agent
The left panel lists every AI agent detected in your fleet, sorted by request volume. Click any agent row to scope the entire console to that agent — the metrics, chart, and all downstream views update instantly.
The Break Down By section below the Agents list lets you pivot by Endpoints, Identities, or other dimensions. This is useful for answering questions like “which endpoints are using the most AI?” or “which users are generating the most sessions?”
Step 5: Ask Origin about your data
The right panel is the Ask Origin AI assistant. It surfaces contextual prompt suggestions based on your current scope. Click any suggestion to run it, or type your own question in natural language. See the Ask Origin walkthrough for more detail.
